Caryl Frankenberger, Ed. M
Executive Director, Psychoeducational Diagnostician
Caryl Frankenberger, Ed.M. is the Founder and Executive Director of Frankenberger Associates Learning Solutions Center, established in 1986. For nearly four decades, she has dedicated her career to helping individuals with complex learning profiles thrive—first by uncovering the root causes of learning challenges through expert evaluation, and by developing tailored educational solutions that change lives.
A highly respected psychoeducational diagnostician and national speaker, Caryl began her career focused on diagnosing learning disabilities and guiding families in understanding their child’s cognitive and educational profiles. Her deep commitment to this work led her to become Head of School at the Greenwood School, a boarding school for boys with language-based learning differences and executive function challenges.
Motivated to move beyond diagnosis and into transformation, Caryl founded the FA Learning Solutions Center, which brings together cutting-edge, research-based interventions including executive function coaching, individualized academic tutoring, customized social learning programs, and cognitive training. Through this innovative model—what she calls Tailored Tutoring—Caryl has created a new standard for how individuals of all ages can be supported to build skills, confidence, and independence.
Caryl holds a B.S. from Lesley University with a concentration in Special Education and an Ed.M. in Reading and Language from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her earlier roles include Co-Director and Creator of the Learning Center at St. Andrew’s School, Orton-Gillingham practitioner at the Carroll and Greenwood schools, and facilitator for the development of learning support programs at leading schools such as Dalton, Collegiate, Brunswick, and Tilton, among others. She also served as Executive Director of the Fisher Landau Foundation, where she helped launch groundbreaking language-based learning programs at independent schools.
Caryl has served on numerous advisory boards, including the Greenwood School, Haskins Laboratory School, the NE Branch of the Orton Dyslexia Society, the Bradford Dunn Institute, and the Independent Educational Consultants Association. An early adopter of cognitive training, she continues to innovate in the field, leading a practice that integrates diagnostic clarity with personalized intervention.
When not working, Caryl enjoys spending time with her oldest son, Ben, a licensed clinical social worker and Assistant Executive Director at Frankenberger Associates; her youngest son, Cam, who is the CEO of neuroaide, a report writing assistant built specifically for neuropsychologists and psychoeducational evaluators (where Caryl serves as an Advisor); and her husband, Ted, who is the CFO and Director of Cognitive Training at Frankenberger Associates and, of course, she adores her dog, Macy.

“It is with deep gratitude that I give Frankenberger Associates my highest recommendation. When my bright, conscientious children who love to learn found themselves silently struggling in school, Caryl brought clarity to their learning profiles. Caryl’s evaluations were comprehensive and her explanations directly to my children gave them ownership of their strengths and struggles as learners. Caryl’s reports allowed their schools to provide specific accommodations that helped immediately. Then her team worked with my kids to learn specific strategies to tackle school assignments. I was fascinated to watch as they developed plans that were as unique as my kids. The most inspiring part was watching my teens implement these strategies and continue to thrive long past their work with Caryl’s team. This work has changed their lives as learners. It has increased their confidence, self-awareness and compassion for their classmates, and it has fostered resilience and resourcefulness. We cannot overstate our appreciation.”
“Caryl combines astute competence with an underlying warmth that leads parents and students to feel they are in the right hands. She consistently goes the extra mile and brings a level head to the playing field which is greatly needed when families are dealing with difficult decisions. Thank you, Caryl, for making such a huge difference in my son’s life!”
“For seven years, Caryl has been our life raft as we navigated the murky waters of special education to find the best opportunities for our daughter. Caryl’s guidance and expertise has always proved invaluable; from testing to tutoring, technology tools to educational programs. However, the most remarkable way in which she stands apart from others in her field is in fact, the simplest to discern: Caryl recognizes our daughter’s strengths as keenly as her struggles and she has always made happiness and self-esteem the highest priorities in her recommendations. We are truly, forever grateful. ”
“With admission officers being pulled in a thousand different directions and conferences being both costly in terms of time and money, I was thrilled to be able to offer my staff this incredible professional growth opportunity right here at Proctor. Caryl tailored her webinars to our specific needs and was extremely flexible about how to best present to our team. She is a patient and responsive teacher. I would recommend this webinar series to any admissions office.”
“You were so awesome at Longshore, Caryl. Thank you for your fabulous presentation. Audrey and I heard more raves about you at Eagle Hill Hardwick today. Keep on truckin’ – you rock!”
“Thank you again for all you have done for me. I truly wouldn’t be applying for the bar exam without your help and dedication.”
“I traveled from Massachusetts to Connecticut just to work with Frankenberger Associates. I wanted to find a place where I would be comfortable, where I could get answers and most importantly, where I could be understood. My expectations were far surpassed. I was evaluated and then provided with tools and strategies to maximize my potential. The results have been amazing, and I have improved in all aspects of my life. I wish this was something I had done sooner. ”
“Caryl evaluated me over a span of two days but the time and work that she spent providing me with a better understanding of myself went far beyond those two days. Caryl always went the extra mile. She made me feel comfortable, took the time to listen to me and was passionate about ensuring that I was provided with what I needed to perform at my very best. After my evaluation, Caryl took the time to explain her findings, her recommendations and even showed me how to use tools and programs that have since changed my life. Caryl’s approach allowed me to feel relaxed during a stressful time and provided me with a better understanding of how I learn and what I can do to make my life easier. Thank you, Caryl, I am beyond appreciative. ”
“I have been in and around psychoeducational evaluations most of my adult professional life. In terms of parsing out the issues that children and adults face with variable learning profiles, Caryl stands alone at the top of the heap. There is really no one better when it comes to this. In addition, and just as importantly, Caryl has perfected a nearly flawless manner of making her findings come alive for her clients, the children and their families. I have seen it first-hand where no matter what, families leave her office after an evaluation with in-depth knowledge and no matter what the challenges, folks walk away empowered and with a sense of direction.”
