What is Executive Functioning, and How can Coaching Help?
Executive Functions are a broad group of skills that we use to manage our behaviors so that we can set and achieve important goals in our academic and personal lives. They include but are not limited to, our ability to initiate, plan, prioritize, organize, attend, and monitor our behaviors. Executive functioning also includes the ability to think flexibly, hold information in mind, control our impulses and emotions, and maintain focus on our goals.
At Frankenberger Associates we provide one-on-one virtual, and in-person, executive function coaching - tutoring for children, teens and young adults through graduate school. Our focus is on lasting change and growth. This means that our programs are not “quick fixes”. Building executive skills requires commitment and dedication from students, along with the consistency and support that our coaches provide.
Our approach incorporates executive function skills into academic learning. By using real life calendars, deadlines, assignments, projects, and responsibilities as a foundation, we are able to teach our students to initiate, organize, plan, manage time, maintain focus, activate, and achieve their goals.
