Erica Hocking, B.A., Certified K-12 Special Educator
Director of Social Learning Services and Executive Function Coach/Tutor
Erica Hocking is a Social Skills and Executive Function Coach/Tutor at Frankenberger Associates. She has a broad range of experience working with students and families as a social skills and executive functioning interventionist. As a licensed special educator, she works with students who have a variety of learning disabilities, as well as ADHD and autism spectrum disorders and is a strong advocate for students. Erica has conducted social skills groups and one-on-one sessions for students struggling to understand the social world around them and she has been trained in Social Thinking by Michelle Garcia Winner and is a certified PEERS® professional.
It was through her connections with local parent support groups, that Erica discovered the need for social skills intervention. Her passion for working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder grew from her work at The High Road Learning Center, Meliora Academy, North Haven School System, and Theracare’s Birth to Three Program. The knowledge and experience she gained in these roles have proven instrumental in her ability to help families, and students with complex learning profiles achieve success both at home and in school. Erica also worked with a colleague to open a pediatric therapy center on the Connecticut shoreline in 2013, and she later opened her own business, The Social Stop, where she continued her work with social learning in private and school-based settings.
In her free time, Erica enjoys watching her children play sports (lacrosse, football, basketball), taking hikes with her dog and family, reading a good book, and exercising.

“I cannot say enough positive things about Frankenberger Associates, specifically Erica Hocking. Our college age child turned to us for support in the social skills area. An area that honestly all of us could use some training... The life skills and executive functioning skill set that are being worked on are paramount to success in life. These basic fundamental skills are not easy for all, and Erica has the compassion, patience and knowledge to help our child to help themselves and navigate this important time in their life. This work is ongoing and we are very happy with the progress and the connection our child has made with Erica.”
“Erica was the perfect coach for our daughter who connected with her on all counts. Erica was also very honest and helpful to us as well. She’s terrific.”
“Erica is kind, warm and empathetic. More importantly she is skilled at imparting information as it relates to social skills. My child is very happy with everything she has learned thus far.”
“This 14-week program was truly some of the best money we have spent. We did not enter this program lightly but really felt like we needed to provide some additional support to our son prior to leaving for college. Erica was prompt, clear, empathetic and a wonderful coach for our son and for me as a parent. Our son exited the program with a new set of skills. We now have a new set of shared vocabulary surrounding social skills and executive functioning that has been incredibly helpful. We watched his confidence increase; he went to prom, and he is much more prepared for college. I felt incredibly supported as a parent and learned a lot along the way. Thank you, Erica! We are truly so grateful.”
“My daughter came into her own with Erica’s guidance and now has the tools to communicate and advocate for herself. And to not beat herself up if there are negative results.”
